Pocantico Hills, NY 10591
If you are able to attend our wedding and are planning to stay in the New York area, we would like to extend you a warm welcome to our backyard. To assist in your planning, we have included some helpful information below.
Pocantico Hills is just outside Tarrytown, which is about 40 minutes north of New York City. Getting around the area depends on whether or not you are staying in local lodging and what you want to see. Given the rural surroundings, if you decide to explore the area, please consider renting a car for your stay. While Uber service and local taxis are available in the area, a rental car or splitting a ride with another guest will be your most economic option.
If you are arriving by train from New York City and expect to return to the city later that night, you should plan to catch a taxi at the Tarrytown train station to Blue Hill and Stone Barns, which is located only about fifteen minutes away. Please see the Metro-North Railroad schedule here for more trip details.
Home to some of America's most visited sites, this region has everything from sweeping rivers and majestic valleys to quiet farms and little towns. We added a few of our favorite ideas in the area for you to explore and and enjoy during your visit.
Built by the philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Kykuit offers visitors an opportunity to view elegant estate rooms, expansive, beautifully kept gardens and a collection of classic autos.
Visitors can stroll manicured pathways to view the fountains, sculptures, and flowing streams in this 43 acre Persian-style garden overlooking the Hudson River.
With its pastoral setting, rich social history, hand-on activities, and demonstrations of colonial life, this 300 year old Dutch manor provides an unforgettable experience.
Visit this award-winning craft microbrewery where you can sample unique beers, purchase freshly poured growlers and take informative tours to learn about the brewing process.
Hear about Washington Irving's storied past and how he came to be American's first internationally famous author while exploring this expansive estate with stunning river views.
Enjoy local specialties from this vibrant and abundant farmers market, featuring a wide variety of produce ranging from fruits and vegetables to meats and baked goods.
Foodies of all types and palettes have discovered the Hudson Valley and its wide variety of top-flight restaurants. The farm-to-table concept, in which chefs seek out ingredients for their dishes from local farmers, is becoming standard practice in the region. The words "grass fed" and "organic" are showing up on more and more menus. A wonderful selection of ethnic restaurants also dot the banks of the Hudson River. Whether it's causal dining or white tablecloth service, gourmet fare can be found in the surrounding area. Below, we have included a few of our favorite places to enjoy a meal, sip a cup of coffee or satisfy a sweet tooth. Come, eat and enjoy!
